The number of frame boxes is data dependent. up to the maximum number of tiles of the trellis plot. I need to apply the marker size individually to each frame box. Well I got exactly what I requested, but it’s not what I want. I’ve highlighted the important line where the marker size message is sent to the frame box. Variables( X(:height), Y(:weight), Wrap(:age )), Let’s try it: dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/big class.jmp" ) So for example, if I want to increase the marker size then I send a message to the frame box. This is a display box that has properties associated with the graphical elements. In scripting terminology each “tile” of the trellis plot is a frame box. After all, isn’t that the point of scripting? These are great until we want to exercise greater control on them through our scripts. Often I want to utilise the “wrap” property to create trellis plots: But sometimes the graph builder gives me capabilities that I don’t have in other platforms. If I need a scatter plot I will script an overlay plot. The graph builder allows me to rapidly evaluate different graphical representations.īut when I am scripting that flexibility of the platform becomes a nightmare! To be honest, most times I will not use the graph builder for scripting. I use it a lot when I’m not so familiar with a set of data, and I’m not quite sure how I want to plot the data. Select age in the Overlay zone and drag it to the Wrap zone.įigure 3.If you want to interactively build graphs in JMP then the graph builder platform is great. Now you want to see separate graphs for each value of age.Ħ. The relationship between height and weight for each value of age is shown using color in a single graph. Select age and drag it to the Overlay zone. Select weight and drag it to the X zone.ĥ. Select height and drag it to the Y zone.Ĥ. Select Help > Sample Data Folder and open Big Class.jmp.ģ. To re-create and modify the graph in Figure 3.2, follow these steps:ġ. To customize the legend, see Legend Options in Graph Builder. If your graph has a legend, it appears here. See Element Types and Options.Ĭustomize the Graph Builder window. See Element Types and Options.Ĭustomize the graph with specific options for the type of graph you have selected. You can apply several types of elements to your data simultaneously (using the Shift key). Note: Any excluded rows are hidden in graphs.Ĭlick an element type icon to choose the type of graph that you want. Your graph appears in the middle, and you drag variables into different zones. The graph area and zones are the main body of Graph Builder. Tip: For descriptions of the column options in the Variables red triangle menu, see Columns Panel in Data Tables in Using JMP.
